The Costa del Sol may get the most attention, but it is certainly not the only gem along the Spanish Mediterranean coast. Further West is the Costa de la Luz (coast of the light), even the name sounds romantic and wonderful. What is so wonderful about the coast towns of Cadiz is its rustic coastline. This dramatically contrasts the overdeveloped, bustling and touristy Costa del Sol where visitors go running to the nearest English speaking pub or café to get a pint or a spot of fish and chips!
Cadiz is authentic, relaxing, welcoming and inviting with fish so fresh and flavorful that you can’t seem to get enough. Cadiz is Andaluz to the core, the food, the lifestyle, the way of thinking and living and the architecture.
The beaches are deep and lovely and are the more popular destination for Spaniards and visitors looking for the real Spanish experience. Chiringuitos (lively restaurants right on the sand) serve up mean platters of fried mixed fish (pescado frito mixto), barbecued steak and fish. Also, you can’t miss Spain’s most popular coastal delicacy- the great sardines that are cooked up directly on the beach too! Good-humored families and visitors eat and drink harmoniously as friends!
