Sevilla is a grand city by all meanings of the word. The city has many grandiose palaces, monumental museums, ornate city buildings, grand tree lined avenues as well as a grand river that runs through it near the grand bullring and cathedrals, cigar factories where none other than Carmen herself worked make Sevilla a fabulous city. The annual feria draws the most important royalty and celebrities of Spain, as does the Semana Santa, but their annual feria is one of the most exclusive of them all…only where everyone goes to see the crème de la crème of flamenco musicians in Spain. Spain is a thriving city that is steeped in tradition and pride as are most Spaniards, but it is also contemporary with avant garde galleries and artists that come to the city to push the boundaries in dance, music and theater and is flourishing to many cultures and ethnicities that live side by side harmoniously and contribute and learn from each other, melding into a fabulous mix expressed through Sevillas art, music, food and architecture. It is a very difficult city to navigate through because most of the streets are at angles, with lots of alley like streets but the locals are always willing to give directions - sometimes even over a glass of wine!
