Once a year since 2002 the most well endowed gentlemen of Iceland gather together and select from among themselves the greatly prized "Tom Selleck Moustache of the Year Award"

Competitors are judged not solely on size, volume or length but style and overall performance. Alcohol consumption is not forbidden by competitors but rather encouraged.

It's somewhat of a lifestyle issue, being able to bear your moustache with maturity and pride just like Tom Selleck.

The event gathers momentum from year to year and the entire town is anxiously awaiting the announcement of when this year's festival will take place

Nice one - most entertaining. The video is hilarious. How many people dress up as Tom? There seem to be rather a large number of keen impersonators. Are you one of them by any chance?

The moustache is what competitors are ultimately judged on, the competition is only named in Tom's honor because few men have borne facial hair with as much success as he.

And no I have yet to compete. I have lost a few good friends to the cause though, they have been preparing since last year much to the disgruntlement of their spouses.

Yeah I agree, that is a bizarre idea! Never heard of it before but this all gives me reason to want to head for Iceland! Thanks.
