Dead Man's House & The Hostel ( by Hollie-Miller in Loch Lomond, United Kingdom )

My sister recently got a job at a youth hostel in Loch Lomond. I have stayed there before and I think it is one of my favourite places in Scotland. It sits overlooking the Loch, the grand estate sweeps over the hillside.

Beachcombing with Buckley ( by Hollie-Miller in Largs, United Kingdom )

Buckley my friend’s dog was taken on his first outing to the beach during our bank holiday. The sun was cracking the slabs so we headed coastal to Largs. My sister was doing a recon trip on the distance between the train station and the visitor centre where she had a job interview the following week and we tagged along.
Naturally, as there was a bit of sun out the entire population of the west of Scotland seemed to have descended upon the seaside town. Although the promenade was packed with buggies, cyclists and old couples, the beach was near empty.

Anarchy Efficiency & Frühstückte ( by Hollie-Miller in Berlin, Germany )

I was traveling to Berlin for the first time with my friend who has dreamed about visiting the city all her life. I had done a bit of reading up on the place but gave her free reign to decide where and what we did. Most of it involved eating of which I was very much in agreement with. On arrival at the hostel in Kreuzberg we crossed the street to Morgenland Café for breakfast. Frühstückte (breakfast) is served as a large buffet which seemed to stretch all the way to heaven and I certainly felt I had gone there with food ranging from cooked meats, freshly baked bread, fruits, yoghurts, seafood, salads, pasta and all washed down with a nice cold beer.

Spirits of Edinburgh ( by Hollie-Miller in Edinburgh, United Kingdom )

My friend had invited me over to Edinburgh with her for the weekend to catch up with some of her pals and to do a bit of ghost spotting. How could I refuse?
During the car journey over to the city we talked about spirits and legends and paranormal experiences.

Frankfurt's Finest Busker ( by Hollie-Miller in Frankfurt am Main, Germany )

On my last trip in Europe I stayed overnight in Frankfurt, having images of quaint architecture and historic monuments I was surprised at how new and modern it is. It reminds me a lot of Glasgow with a main thoroughfare of shops and offices. It is very much a large city with a few places of historic interest still standing after the war.

Life on the Farm ( by Hollie-Miller in Lochwinnoch, United Kingdom )

For little over a year I lived on a farm in a country park in the West of Scotland. We rented a farmhouse on land that belonged to a local shepherd and his family, the house sat on a steep hillside overlooking a beautiful valley. The place was a dream come true but we soon came to understand that the enormous heating costs and isolation during the winter months made life there hard. Although it resulted in a move to the city on my part, I wouldn’t change my decision to live there as I felt a strong sense of family and community.

Situated in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Dean Castle and Country Park has always been one of those school trip places to go. A few years have passed since then but me and some friends decided to take an educational/nostalgic trip during this summer.
