Whilst working in Boston, one of the few trips I took was to drive the 6 odd hours upto Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park for a weekend.
Bar Harbor is a cutesey enough place to potter about with the usual cafe's, bars and stuff. It was a little more developed than I had hoped (I thought I was being intrepid) but it was nice enough.
My favourite part was actually the farmers market...
Getting into the Acadia National Park was grand and more what i was after. There were plenty of pootling trail walks, loops and mini-hills to conquer. Nice views and pretty empty of other walkers. In short if you want a nice day out and some scenic views then this is a top spot. Apparently (if you are interested) Martha Stewart and other big-wigs hang out in their houses around here because it is rather a pretty area.
Bass Harbor Head light house and that neck of the woods are quite pretty but I preferred the hilly area on Mount Desert Island. Anyhow a couple of piccies of the light house area...
