Brief visit to Nassau ( by Jimbo in Nassau, Bahamas )

Nassau is an island with a very distinct divide, the filthy rich (Opera Winfrey has a place there) and the poor. The rich reside on Paradise Island and the poor on New Providence Island. We docked and went onto New Providence to look around, the high street is pretty small and it mainly comprises of jewelery shops where apparently you can pick up a decent bargain with a fair bit of bartering room. Not really my thing, but if its yours then this place seems ideal.

Watch out for two things whilst walking around, pick pockets and drug dealers. Like I said it is poor and the locals are just trying to make a buck or two, so can be pretty blatant in their attempts. I think half the boat was offered some weed.

On the way back to the boat we figured a tour of the town in a horse and carriage would be good. The guys are situated right by the entrance, look for ten malnourished steads and white carriages, you can't miss them.
It was a bit hairy at times, from the guide hurling abuse at othe...

Barca, Barca, Barca ( by Jimbo in Barcelona, Spain )

Barcelona is another one of those cities that everyone must go to at some point. It is quite special and I still need another visit to get to some of the other places I didn't manage to see. What I did see was more than enough to whet my appetite to go back.

Being a footy fan one of my stops was the enormous Nou Camp or more accurately Camp Nou stadium, home of Barcelona football club.

We took a tour around the ground (11 euros) which is a must and included a look around the museum, the trophy cabinets as well as the obvious look at the pitch itself. Simply magnificent, the sheer scale of it is breathtaking and one can only imagine what it would be like with a capacity crowd of nearly 100,000 people, if you manage to get a ticket! Certainly one to remember.

Paris, a whistle-stop day trip ( by Jimbo in Paris, France )

I was close to Paris for my 21st birthday for a week and thought I should get into Paris for a day to try to cram as much in as possible and the first thing to say is: this certainly isn't the way to do it. Do a long weekend, just in Paris.

I saw the obvious, the Eiffel Tower, Champs-Élysées, the outside of the Louvre and Notre Dame Cathedral as well as bits and bobs in between and Paris is a beautiful city.

Firstly, the Eiffel Tower is impressive, bigger than I thought to be fair and you just have to fork out to dosh to get up there. Yes, there are queues with no apparent beginning or end but it is just too good to miss out on. The views at each stage are staggering and worth getting over any cases of vertigo.

My gripe is that on the very day we went (and this may account for the rediculous queues) good old Tom Cruise decided to pop the question to Katie Holmes, so the top of the tower was off-limits for much of the day and the backlog of people wanting to get up there later w...

Disney's island, Castaway Cay ( by Jimbo in Castaway Cay, Bahamas )

The final part of a fantastic two and a half week break with my girlfriend's family to Orlando was a few days on Disney's themed cruise liner.

Now being a bloke (deep voice), uh hum, I shouldn't enjoy these kinds of things. But I have to say it was a brilliant few days. From start to finish everything was of such a high standard and the attention to detail aboard the ship was superb.

The best part for me was the single day spent on Disney's private island 'Castaway Cay' in the Bahamas. The weather was absolutely brilliant and the surroundings were just awesome. As it is owned exclusively by Disney the theme overlaps onto the island as well, so it is still very much part of the Disney experience.

Italian Graffiti restaurant ( by Jimbo in London, United Kingdom )

If your in central London, around Soho or even if your not, make a trip to Italian Graffiti on Wardour Street. It is a compact, bustling restaurant with a great atmosphere and the fastest service ever, oh and great food at great prices.

Its not a flashy place but is a good honest Italian restaurant. The staff are friendly and super quick. You can be in and out in 30mins and that is with a starter, main and dessert! However, the great thing is you actually don't feel rushed!?

Also, if you don't mind being right next to people on other tables or the smoke (luckily no-one lit up until we were leaving) then it is perfect for a quick bite before hitting the town or the theatre and you will walk away without feeling completely fleeced or still hungry.

Supposedly renowned for their pizza, I went for the Americana. For me, not too generous on the old toppings but very nice all the same and my girlfriend's mushroom ravioli (which was packed with mushrooms) was apparently "divine".

I'd cer...

Good fishing spot ( by Jimbo in Maidenhead, United Kingdom )

With the Thames a 30 second walk from my flat there is a lot of opportunity to go fishing, even if its just to wham a spinner across every so often to catch a few suicidal Perch.

But quite a good spot is on the overflow which is across the bridge and is technically in nearby Taplow but hey. If you walk out of maidenhead past the VW garage and on a bit you get to the overflow which had been made to look natural and contains some reasonably sized perch and small pike.

Its really quiet there and not a lot of people try it but there is a lot of fish in there and so its worth a try.
Just remember get your fishing license from the post office.

Great for a BBQ ( by Jimbo in Marlow, United Kingdom )

Marlow is a great little town in the summer, situated right on the river Thames it provides the perfect retreat on a lazy sunny day.

It gets busy in the park next to the river but head over towards the playing fields and their is a small area set back from the main park where you can smack a BBQ down and a have a bloody good time, without many people around, whilst still being close to everything. Perfect!

Oh, and if your looking for a nice place to have a drink or two, check out the George and Dragon pub next to the entrance of the park or if that doesn't tickle your fancy there are plenty of pubs along the high street to suit any taste.
