Madisteps's experience was in Cairo, Egypt. She went on 01 of September 2006 for 2 weeks. She went for adventure. Madisteps went with a friend. She got there and around by car or van. madisteps's verdict is: you must go here.

Whether you are interested in Islam or not, the Citadel Mosque is an enchanting place. The architecture, tradition, and vibes have stayed in my mind and soul ever since I sat on the beautiful Egyptian carpets and gazed up in amazement. This is a huge mosque in which you can really feel something special. For me, it was a very personal experience and I felt like I could sit and stare for hours- which is saying a lot because I'm always anxious to see everything else!
I definitely suggest asking for a tour guide to explain the basics of the Mosque and tell you the rules (i.e. no shoes, no laying all the way down on your back, covered shoulders, etc.).
The Citadel is centrally located in Cairo and can be reached by bus or taxi.

I was wearing this green cape-like coat because I had been wearing a short sleeve shirt. Women should be fully covered, with the only exception being footwear- bare foot is fine.
